Office of the President

Dr. Oliver Hersey began serving as the eleventh president of Jerusalem University College on August 1, 2021 (view announcement here). Having been shaped by his own experiences in the Holy Land, Dr. Hersey desires to help students better understand the Bible by providing them with opportunities to study in Israel the geographical, cultural, and historical contexts of God’s Word. He is a pastor in the Reformed Church of America, previously serving as the Director of Discipleship and Teaching at Calvary Church in Orland Park, IL. With over 20 years of combined experience in fields related to education, research, pastoring, coaching and management, Dr. Hersey is driven to help grow both people and organizations for service in God’s kingdom.

Board of Directors

JUC’s board of directors safeguards the financial and academic health of the school. To help accomplish this goal, the board consists of members that represent the fields of academics, business, finance, law, service industry, church work, and missions. Three members are elected by the JUC Consortium to represent the interests of the associated schools. Together, the persons who serve on JUC’s board of directors ensure a healthy, custodial approach to governance. They meet as a body two times per year, once in November and once in the spring.

President Emeritus of JUC

In the November 2022 JUC Board Meeting, it was unanimously agreed upon that Dr. Paul Wright be honored as the second President Emeritus of Jerusalem University College. His twenty-year tenure remains the second longest behind our founder, Doug Young, who served for 21 years. Today, Dr. Wright continues his services to JUC as a member of the faculty, teaching students online and in-residence for short-term programs. Some of his publications, including his recent Holman Illustrated Guide to Biblical Geography, written with the JUC audience in mind, have become part of the school’s curriculum. As President Emeritus, Dr. Wright also serves on occasion to mentor and advise the leadership and administration at JUC.
