New Standalone Field Studies in Jordan & Türkiye | JUC
Explore the lands of the Bible with JUC's 2027 travel courses. Discover faculty-led learning opportunities in Israel, Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, and Türkiye that deepen your understanding of Scripture through firsthand study.

For the first time, you can join a JUC graduate field study to Jordan or Türkiye and Patmos without enrolling in the accompanying semester course.
This May, Jerusalem University College invites participants to go beyond the classroom and experience the landscapes, cities, archaeological sites, and cultural settings that shaped the biblical world.
Through on-site teaching and firsthand exploration, these field studies offer the immersive, contextual learning that has defined a JUC education for generations. Whether exploring traditional ways of life in Jordan or examining the ancient cities addressed in the Book of Revelation, participants will encounter the biblical world in ways that deepen their understanding of Scripture.
Cultural Backgrounds of the Bible: Jordan
May 8–15, 2027
Discover the cultural world behind the biblical text through an immersive field study in Jordan.
Rather than simply observing from a distance, participants will engage with traditional practices and ways of life that provide valuable context for understanding biblical customs, imagery, and ways of thought.
The experience includes visits to traditional villages and Bedouin communities, opportunities to practice traditional farming and cooking, time spent with a shepherd, camel rides, a hike through Wadi Dana, and a stay with a Bedouin family in Wadi Rum.
Throughout the journey, on-site teaching will explore themes of society, identity, economy, hospitality, and religious expression, helping participants consider how cultural practices illuminate the world of the Bible.
The goal is not simply to see Jordan, but to experience traditional life as much as possible and develop a deeper appreciation for the cultural contexts that shaped Scripture.
Revelation and the Seven Cities of the Apocalypse: Patmos & Türkiye
May 9–17, 2027
Explore the historical and geographical setting of the Book of Revelation through a narrative, historical, and archaeological field study to Patmos and western Türkiye.
The journey begins on Patmos, the island associated with John's visions recorded in Revelation, before continuing to the seven cities addressed in the biblical text: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.
Through visits to ancient cities, archaeological sites, and historically significant locations, participants will examine the world of the early Christian communities that first received John's message.
Standing in these places provides a unique opportunity to consider Revelation within its first-century context, explore the historical and cultural circumstances faced by its original audience, and better understand the imagery and messages of the text.
Experience the Biblical World Beyond the Classroom
Both field studies reflect JUC's commitment to connecting biblical scholarship with firsthand experiences in the lands of the Bible.
With the new opportunity to participate independently of the accompanying semester courses, these experiences are now accessible to a wider community of learners seeking to deepen their understanding of Scripture through immersive study.
Explore these May 2027 field studies and discover how you can experience the biblical world with JUC.
