Jerusalem University College hosted an academic symposium marking the 60th anniversary of the Ecumenical Theological Research Fraternity in Israel (ETRFI) in September 2026. The gathering brought Christian and Jewish scholars together to discuss education, interreligious engagement, and the future of constructive cooperation.

Dr. Elaine Phillips welcomed participants, followed by blessings from Rev. David Pileggi of Christ Church Jerusalem and Rav Yitzchok Adlerstein, associated with Interfaith Affairs and the Simon Wiesenthal Center. U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee offered greetings, and Dr. Petra Heldt introduced ETRFI and the symposium panelists.

Speakers represented institutions including the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Oral Roberts University, the École Biblique, and Jerusalem University College. JUC’s Dr. Jonathan Kaplan was among the presenters. The program also included a musical interlude by concert pianist Prof. Inna Dudekova.

Following the academic sessions, guests gathered for a meal and conversation in the JUC garden. JUC students assisted with preparations for the event, helping welcome scholars and visitors to campus.

Founded in 1966, ETRFI has promoted Christian understanding of Judaism and Israel, dialogue across Christian traditions, and Christian–Jewish reconciliation through scholarly publications, lectures, conferences, and exchange programs. The anniversary symposium recognized that history while providing a setting for continued scholarly exchange.
