A Week of Community, Creativity, and Unexpected Visitors at JUC
Shared meals, music, an olive harvest, and an unexpected hedgehog visitor bring the JUC campus community together.

Life at Jerusalem University College includes shared meals, creative pursuits, and unexpected moments alongside classroom study and field learning. In October 2026, the campus community experienced a week marked by fellowship, music, and an unusual visitor.
While many students were away on an overnight field study, those remaining on campus gathered for a smaller Shabbat meal. Tony prepared homemade ice cream sandwiches using his own cookies and ice cream, and Melfer shared reflections at vespers on continued prayer.
Later in the week, a hedgehog appeared in the campus garden and was named Theophilus. When the community realized the animal was ill, several students provided blankets, food, and water and contacted a local animal hospital. Theophilus was subsequently taken into the care of a nearby safari hospital.
Elsewhere, JUC student Kelsey Vine performed with her Israeli choir in productions of the Italian operas Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana. Members of the JUC community attended opening night to support her.
Campus life also included meals prepared by Kristine and continued work processing the recent olive harvest, led by Perry. These activities reflected the range of experiences shared by students and staff as the fall semester continued.
