Description
A study of the socio-economic, organizational and political components of Palestinian society, with a focus on pertinent current developments. This course will be hybrid. Online students will join the instructor and in-residence students for live class sessions.
Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an academic understanding of Palestinian society, politics, and culture, recognizing both the unique characteristics of Palestinian life and the broader social norms shared across societies.
- Analyze the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from a historically informed and comparative perspective to better grasp its contemporary dimensions.
- Describe the role and experiences of Palestinian Christian communities within their broader social, cultural, political, economic, and religious contexts.
- Explore the religious, social, and cultural dynamics of Palestinian society to gain deeper insight into its internal relationships and motivations.
- Reflect on and articulate their own perspectives regarding conflict resolution and offer informed ideas for promoting peace, democracy, and pluralism in Palestinian society.
