A study of the art of Judaism and early Christianity in the centuries following the Second Temple Period that expresses biblical and theological themes.
Objectives
By the end of the course, a student should be able to:
- Identify and describe characteristics of early Jewish and Christian art.
- Understand the theological conversation between Rabbinic Judaism and early Christianity that expressed itself in iconographic art forms.
- Describe models of interaction that took place between Rabbinic Judaism and early Christianity.
