Students will spend an entire week of sailing, eating, and sleeping aboard the Kaya Güneri 1, a beautiful, well-appointed traditional wooden Turkish gulet. Gulets are traditional Turkish coastal cargo/work boats that have been either purpose-built or retro-fitted to accommodate guests on board. Each cabin is double or triple occupancy and comes equipped with en suite facilities.
During the course of this two-week program, you will be living and learning aboard the gulet for six days. You will experience the setting in which Paul spent most of his time at sea. Throughout the voyage, you will sail along the magnificent southern Turkish coast with stops in a variety of biblical, scenic, and historical sites, some of which are remote and relatively unknown by tourists. The daily anchorage will also provide opportunities for activities such as snorkeling and swimming.
Nearly all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are included in the program cost. Meals will be provided aboard the gulet, during hotel stays, and during group meals on land. Water will also be provided. You can expect to pay for about four meals during independent time where you have a chance to experience the culture on your own.
Although this is an intensive study program, the itinerary is designed to allow students time to explore and interact with the local culture apart from the group. You are free to spend this time studying, relaxing, or experiencing the cuisine!
