Special Programs: credit or non-credit |
|
|
Our specially arranged
short-term programs of study are quite different from typical
"Holy Land" Tours. We are an academic institution not a tourist agency.
Our
programs have been developed over five decades of experience in the land. Our programs
visit sites not normally viewed by typical holy land tours. Daily hiking can be
rigorous and sustained in rugged terrain. Participants must be in excellent physical
condition. Special programs can be designed to be
more or less rigorous according to your groups needs.
Most of the coursework for our short-term programs is done on-site, in the
field. Prior map work and classroom discussions provide the necessary
context for field-work. |

We arrange and run special
programs for groups throughout the year. Planning for these needs to
begin well in advance. If you and your group cannot
attend one of the six regular programs scheduled, the university college
will tailor a program to meet the specific
needs of your group (dependent on adequate size). You may desire dates other than the
regularly scheduled two and three week programs or a
special itinerary. Choose from one of three existing itineraries
or tailor one especially for your group. See
Related Information for sample regular program itineraries.
Specially arranged programs
may be for-credit or not for credit. All of our for-credit programs require that each student successfully
complete map work, examinations and written reflections on regions visited.
Course instructors are far more than "licensed tour
guides" but academically qualified members of the faculty of
Jerusalem University College or its associated schools, with specialties in
the geography, history and archaeology of the lands of the Bible.
Please refer to Related Information at the bottom of the page
for application forms, program dates, entrance requirements, faculty qualifications and
information about adding a Jordan or Egypt component to your special
program.
If you are ready to begin
the process of creating a Special Program, please contact Admissions or the
Program Coordinator at the NA Office.
