Student Ministry Opportunities |
|
|
Jerusalem University College provides a unique educational experience. Its ministry opportunities are no different. One has the chance here to interact with local people in their cultural setting in areas of teaching, service, or just some good fun
and camaraderie building bridges with people. Many different organizations and people are in need of volunteer service, and JUC will help to connect you with your best fit and can even make arrangements if your home institution requires volunteer service.

Local
Congregations: Whatever your interest, your call, or your passion, you will find somewhere you can minister here. But you are not only limited to giving. With this land having such a rich religious heritage, there are countless local congregations, churches, fellowships, synagogues, and other places of worship where you can experience local ministry.

Student Volunteers:
Recently students volunteered to work with gypsy children. They helped
them with their reading skills
and had some fun. They visited the school once a week after the kids were finished with their studies and became fast friends with their bubbling personalities and desire for companionship. Nick, one of the students, comments on his experience:
"I just love the kids so much. They teach me so much about loving unconditionally. You can't communicate with many of them verbally, so all you can do is just love on them, but the deep relationships that develop are so strong. It's just the coolest thing." |

Kids
Video: Andy shares similar feelings:
"The only word I know in Arabic is 'I love you.' It's hard to communicate with many of them, but it's really been a gift. They've taught me more than I was able to teach them. I'm reminded of Jesus' words in Matthew 18, 'And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.' I just love those kids so much."

Volunteer Coaches:
Other students volunteered to help coach a local junior soccer team in Bethlehem. The team would meet after school and Jon and Emmanuel would run them through some drills and reward them with a
scrimmage. Amidst flying soccer balls and running kids, Jon and Emmanuel had a great experience building relationships with the team. Jon says,
"It was a great opportunity to gain a better understanding of Palestinian culture through the time that we spent with the kids." |
